Kids Enjoy The ‘Summer Of Fun’ With Parks and Rec Sports Camp

School may be out, but local Parks and Rec staff has been keeping the kids in Moapa Valley very busy. John Stastny of Clark County Parks and Rec is calling this the Summer of Fun.
This year Stastny has started a sports camp, for kids ages 8-13. The focus is on learning the rules of a variety of sports, and spending a fair amount of time playing those sports. The camp has been running every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 12:30 – 4:30.
Participants of the camp are learning the rules of most major team sports and had the chance to play many of them as well.
What’s more the camp isn’t only taking place indoors. Every Thursday, the kids spend the afternoon at the pool, learning about water sports and cooling off.
“We’re having a great time at the sports camp,” Stastny stated. “The kids are learning about recognized team sports, but we are also playing, and learning, about five different variations of Dodge Ball.”
All of the summer programs have prizes awarded at the end.
